Updates on Unknown and Other Writing/Editing Projects

At the present moment, Unknown is going through the final stages of editing. My wonderful editor/sister/amazing author finished it a few days ago (thank you a million times) and right now, my mom (known in some circles as the “Typo Queen”) is reading through it and combing for the many typos I so often include. (Thank you a million times, too!) So after the Typo Queen is done with her editing, I have one more time through the book, and then it’s off to the races.

Which makes me very excited and terrified at the same time. But I will be so happy to be done editing this thing!

So while Unknown is in other hands, I began on my next editing project. (No, I didn’t want to, but I really needed to get a head start while I still have a good amount of time on my hands.) This is the second book in the Grace Sufficient series, and it stars some side characters who appeared in Unknown. This one actually started out under 100K (yay!), and I’m hoping to keep cutting it down to a more concise size. Because I’m very good at being concise. As you can tell from this rambling post, right?

But I’m on the more fun part of editing right now, which is a lot of rewriting, cutting out unnecessary stuff, and exploring themes more thoroughly. Lord-willing, it will be released sometime in early 2022, but we’ll see what an exhausted college student says about that later. 🙂

As for writing … well, that’s why I had to add that whole editing thing into the title. I’m not currently writing anything new. My poor “current” project I was working on before I began editing Unknown is sitting at around 23,000 words, and the poor thing is going to keep sitting there for the foreseeable future. Maybe sometime in the next few months I’ll pull it out and see what I can do for it. But I mean, it’s the second in a series, and neither of them even have titles. Or a series name. Bad author alert.

What are you working on right now? I’d love to hear how everything’s going!

  1. I CAN’T WAIT FOR UNKNOWN!!!!!!!!!! And the sequel, of course!!!! Thanks so much for the update! 🙂 Welp, Daylight’s going pretty good for me…but Bound and Determined is lagging so bad. 😦 (And now I’m kinda beginning to fourth-guess myself on the premise of Book 4… Oops.)

    • Aw, thank you, Grace! But I don’t know how you work on several projects at once. You go, girl! 🙂 And you’re plotting Book 4? So exciting!! And hey, don’t feel bad – plots change all the time. I basically just rethought a ton of this plot of book #2 yesterday and today. Which is … interesting. 🙂 Authors just can’t decide what we need to do sometimes…

      • You’re so welcome! Haha, thanks! I’d been doing so good at sticking with one at a time for a while…but then inspiration struck and here I am with, like, four WIPs! I’ve actually been working off and on with #4 for about a year now…this is, like, the eightieth time things have changed! We really can’t decide, can we? LOL! Good luck with book 2! 🙂

      • Four WIPs? Oh my word! I am so impressed! My brain would become so scrambled. And some books just need to percolate for a while before you can decide for sure on what you want to do. I have several of those ideas, and I think about them occasionally then make them return to the back burner of my brain. 🙂 And thank you – I have a lot of rewriting to do. 🙂

      • Haha, thank you! (Hey, I’m not saying my brain’s in perfect working order either…XD) True, true. You’re welcome! Have fun!!! (If you can have fun while rewriting…I’ve yet to come to that point myself. LOL!)

    • Aw, Amelia, thank you! I love cookies – even virtual ones! 🙂

Writing can be so much more exciting that editing, so I can’t blame you at all!! I never stuck to editing for long until I decided to publish, and then I kinda had no choice. What are your two new stories about? So exciting!!

      • Any favorites in particular? 😀

Yeah, I guess editing when you’re publishing tends to be more…strict and possibly stressful. Then again, I’ve never done that yet.

For one of them, I want to incorporate what’s the truth about love and what the Bible says about it (although I’m going to need to do a lot of digging…a LOT of digging…), considering what a lot of teenage girls (and boys) think it’s about when it’s really not what they conjure in their minds. For the other one, I got a random idea for about a family who was trying to get the truth out about something in particular (which I’m unsure of how to present it exactly yet) but ended up being silenced by the group behind that particular something. Their newborn is the sole survivor because, well, she’s a newborn and she won’t remember anything; and that’s honestly all I have for a plot. The plantser side is really coming out of me now….LOL!

      • Hmmm …. I love anything with chocolate. 🙂

Oooh, I love that idea! Because like you said, a lot of people don’t understand what love really is. That sounds so good. And your other idea is so intriguing! You have some good ideas there. I hope I can read them someday!! 🙂

      • Okie dokie then! I’ll keep that in mind when you publish the book Lord willing…*cackles*

LOL, now I’m really being told to publish! But thank you!

      • Aw, thank you very much. Now I have even more reasons to publish. Cookies are so good….

Hahahaha, well, you just intrigued a reader. 🙂 Whenever you publish, I’ll be so excited to read it. 🙂

  3. OOOOOO ALL OF THESE PROJECTS SOUND SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I can’t wait for Unknown to be released and good luck with all your editing!! *sends encouraging chocolate*

Oh, I’ve been working on a couple of things. Been writing a new project and have been working on the second draft/editing Heir to His Crown–my YA fantasy novel. And I’ve been doing some minor plotting on some other works. I’m all over the place, lol. XD Good luck with all your writerly goals though!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!
