King’s Daughters’ Writing Camp!

Before I started thinking about publishing, I really had no idea there were so many other fellow, like-minded writers out there. Beyond my sister, I don’t think I knew anyone else around my age who wrote Christian fiction. And then, when I finally bit the bullet and stepped into the world of publishing, I discovered so many writers out there just like me!

So, when I last saw a blog post about the King’s Daughters’ Writing Camp (I think it was Madi’s that I really convinced me), I was intrigued. I’d heard of NaNoWriMo before and wanted to do it, but it always fell in November (why do they do these things to poor students? November is the end of the semester, and it’s crazy busy!) So when I heard about a Christian version NaNoWriMo (even though it was in November again), I forced my introverted little self out into the wilds of camp and met so many amazing people.

So I have written this long story to inform you that KDWC is opening registration for a July camp! (When it’s summer, and I don’t have to fret about homework!) Joining KDWC is completely FREE – all you have to do is sign up and then either open Slack through your internet browser or download their app.

Now, if you’re like me, you might you feel a little lost or overwhelmed among all the spaces. But never fear! You shall learn the ropes in short order, and feel free to tag me (@Vanessa Hall) or any of our lovely Aunties.

There’s also an option to choose which tent you’d like to be in, so feel free to put me down as the friend you want to be tent-mates with! Or you can pick random and be pleasantly surprised with where you end up. (I’ve done that both times, and it’s kinda fun to get the surprise.) πŸ™‚

And finally, KDWC has zero commitments. The only requirements are you have to have some sort of writing goal (even if it’s just figuring out what story you want to work on next) and to follow the Camp Rules. πŸ™‚ Camp sign-ups are open from June 20th and remain open until the last week of Camp. Camp’s virtual gates open a few days prior, but the official camp starts on July 1st!

So, if you’re already convinced to join us, sign up here!

If you’d like more info, feel free to ask away in the comments and check out KDWC’s website.

  1. Ohh, I’m totally signing up!!! (Lol that’s so true, November’s the worst time for NaNoWriMo because that’s one of the busiest school months for me! 🀣) Thank you for letting us know about this!!

    • Yep, the Slack account is free. (I think there are versions where you pay, but camp doesn’t use that one. It has more storage or something, I think?) Anyway – yes, it’s completely free, and you can either download Slack onto your device or just access it online. πŸ™‚ Hope you can join us, Riley! It’s so much fun, and so encouraging!!

  2. Ugh, NaNoWriMo is not a good place to be in righ tnow LOL!! This should be a lovely alternative, I perceive. πŸ˜€ Hm, gotta pray about it and ask my dad, but we’ll see…XD

And there were more Aunties?? There ARE Aunties????
Are we one giant family that I’m just now learning about??? (Who is we…XD)

    • Right? I’ve heard some not-so-great things about NaNoWriMo.
And yes, this is a wonderful alternative, and so much fun. I think you’d have a great time. But of course – those are two very wise things to do before you make a decision. πŸ™‚

Yes! There are several Aunties … like eight, maybe? I can’t remember. Several. And yes!! We are totally family – the Lord’s family! πŸ™‚

      • Mmhmmmm…and we will leave those where they belong. *finds a pile of random, dried-up leaves (why are those around during near summer?) and dirt and dumps them onto NaNoWriMo before finding my two younger honorary brothers to wreck whatever havoc they possibly can*
K, I hath consulted my father; so I hath yet to wait for ze response…and to convince myself that this will be fine LOL!

Yep, eight! It makes sense now, after I checked out the website…XD And amen to that! πŸ˜€

      • Hahaha, there we go! That seems like adequate removal. πŸ˜‰

Okay, that sounds great! (And if he’s cool with it and you decide to come, I shall convince you that this will be fine.) πŸ™‚

      • Yes, younger honorary siblings, particularly the brother who likes you because you actually run around like a kid unlike his biological older brother, are wonderful. XD

*sighs* Please do convince me if I’m allowed to join LOL!
